The Crud Cometh
Sorry we've been away for a few days but the "Man Cold" mutated into a "Son Cold" and most recently a "Mom Cold." Earlier this morning all indications pointed toward the likelihood of a "Daughter Cold Front" developing just to the west of us. Our household is quickly advancing the term "under the weather" in tropical storm proportions.
As bad off as I felt late last week it weakly compares to the entire week my little buddy has had to endure. A week ago tonight his temperature hit the 103 degree mark around 11PM and didn't reach below that level until late morning Wednesday. Needless to say Ben had some of his worst seizures in quite sometime.
We had ourselves a little adventure on Sunday (which you will read about soon). It's the kind of thing Ben truly enjoys these days, getting out with the entire family and experiencing life somewhere other than his therapy room. He was a trooper but as you can see he slept through most of it. Also note the blue tube connected to his neck. Ben has now been on oxygen for 7 straight days; the longest period of time we've had to do that in probably 3 years.
The Creeping Crud culminated in a visit to the pediatrician this morning and a shot of antibiotics. As Nurse Stacey put it, it breaks your heart when the little guy is just too exhausted to even scream. A few hours later we did get the first smile from him in several days.
At the moment Joan is in bed and I'm expecting to pick up another Crud Creeper in about an hour. But I should have time to mail out the first wave of cards later this afternoon or early tomorrow. All of our family truly appreciates the e-mails and orders of the Christmas cards! Hopefully in another day or so the first handbags will be ready with the first themes being snowmen and sunflowers.
I hope the rest of you are healthy. See you back here tomorrow.

Oh my goodness, I forgot about the bags! Can't wait to see them!
I'm so sorry to hear about Ben's week. But I've experienced that "first smile in five days," and it is truly a relief to see. I hope everyone is feeling better soon.
Yikes! Does not sound like it's been a good week at all! My thoughts are with all you guys, especially the young ones. Being sick is the worst. Hope ya'll feel better soon.
Hoping for a healthy house soon.
Sorry, the crud has spread! Not so sorry I didn't stop by the quaranteened quarters today though ;^) I'll hopefully get by there next week for a twitter lesson, to give you a personal update on my bloodwork results, and a big round of hugs!
I hope that all goes well. Having a sick child is painful- but you are on a different level entirely. Sending you all good thoughts.
Poor Ben!! Feel better soon, buddy!
