Our New Family Member!

We welcomed the lovely Miss Lexi into our home earlier this afternoon! As many of you know we tragically lost Baloo, our Samoyed/Labrador mix, a little over two months ago. After grieving for most of December Joan began looking via local rescue organizations for a similar breed. Because of his gentleness Baloo was such a great dog for the kids, in particular Ben.

Yesterday Joan finally located what we were looking for - a Samoyed/Golden Retriever mix that looks like she could be Baloo's younger sister. So we went to meet Lexi earlier today and it was love at first sight! She and Jessie have been attached since we left the adoption agency. Lexi even curled up on Ben's chair and dozed with him for a little while.

In the video you hear me refer to her as "Cheeba" which was not a name we were fond of. Given her Russian ancestry we all agree on Lexi which is short for Alexis. Hopefully what I filmed captures Ben and Jessie's excitement. Ben was much louder than what the camera recorded.

She's beautiful--wait until Em sees her. She and Jim would have 12 dogs if I let them. We have a Samoyed now (had two but lost Haley about a year ago). Ours is Sasha--Russian for Alexandra. How's that for a coincidence?? :)
You won't find a better dog for kids than a Samoyed. Beautiful to boot!

wow - she's beautiful! Ben seems really excited - looked like he was about to grab a few fistfuls of fuzziness there...too cute!
again: your kids are completely beautiful - you DO know how lucky your are, right?
Pimp set up a blog for me on my site, should be the one linked to there...still learning all this, though...
