A Day of Mourning in South Carolina
In case you missed this in the news there was a deadly fire in Ocean Isle, North Carolina over the weekend. Seven college students perished including 6 that attended the University of South Carolina and one from Clemson University. Word has spread quickly that many if not all that died were from our community here in the Upstate of South Carolina. The only young person identified so far was a member of a church Joan and I once attended. We still have many friends there.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the grieving families, particularly the parents. I cannot imagine their loss and the pain they will obviously carry for the rest of their lives. Please acknowledge in whatever way you feel is appropriate (a prayer, a kind word, a good thought) those families over the coming days and weeks.

It looks like all of the victims have now been identified, and yes most came from the upstate, My prayers are with all the families and friends of these victims, and even more so with the survivors who will have the awareness of the bittersweet knowledge that they have lived when their friends, and in some cases family, have died.
So very sad.
