Mullet Tossing and
Other Leisure Sports
Since I'm a glutton for punishment I'm soon headed back to the Savannah area for the Dancing Fishes Arts & Crafts Festival at Tybee Island, Georgia. Ben is not happy to say the least. He's been angry with me since I returned on Monday and just when he's finally warming up to be Dad has to leave again. Since there is a rumor making its way around our household that Joan and the kids might join me in Columbia next weekend, I'm hoping for a better reception when I get home Monday.
Yes, you read that sign correctly. And just in case you can't quite make it out (Hey, I'm a painter - not a photographer), the clever folks in Savannah put mullets on the mullets. For those not in the know a mullet can be a fish but it can also be a hairstyle made famous by Billy Ray Cyrus and his "Achy Breaky Heart" (anyone needing an earworm today?). All business in the front, party in the back.
So Savannah has its Mullet Toss, Aiken (SC) has Lobster Races, and Banner Elk (NC) has Woolly Worms (not the STD). Your job while I'm away this weekend is to either tell the rest of us about some strange competition you've witnessed or even better, a competition you'd like to see. I'm guessing Creative-Type Dad's idea will involve fried chicken while Redneck Mommy's will somehow involve vibrators.
Be clever. Be creative. Be safe until my return.

Sorry I haven't been around-school is getting the way of my blogging life. Go figure.
Good luck this weekend. I'm sure Ben will forgive you.
Nice fish 'dos. Yeah.
I hide chicken in my mullet.
That's where the party's at.
Good luck in Georgia
