Blogged by Ben
Hello my blog friends! I can't begin to tell you what a great week this has been. Everyone around here has been excited about my Mom's promotion. I'm not sure what that's all about but I do know that Mom has not had to work for two straight weekends! I've also stayed up both weekend nights watching movies with Sissy, Mom, and Dad. It has been really nice to have some good family days.
Dad is about to finish several paintings including some we did together. Since Mom and Jessie went shopping yesterday I hung out with Dad in his studio and watched him paint. Dad tells me that he is most creative when I'm nearby. I'm just so happy to be close to him that I probably smile a lot. I also like to see the bright colors he uses! He talks to me when he is working and tells what he's thinking so I do the same thing when I'm working; I talk to Dad, Lisa, Jenny, or Vickie while I'm painting. If you want to see me in action you can turn a few pages back and see a YouTube video of me!
I'm glad you visited with us today and I hope you come back soon! I do have a little secret I've been keeping so I will tell you more about that later. Let's just say that my Mom has gotten a little more than curious about blogging. Have a wonderful week!
Jessie loves to read to her little brother (usually several times a day). We're not sure who enjoys it more. We're also now convinced that this is how Ben is developing his growing vocabulary.

Awww what a precious picture!!!
I forgot to ask and I don't mean to sound stupid, but does Ben talk? How does he communicate with you??
When Jamie and I were growing up we'd volunteer every summer at a school for children with needs. A lot of the kids couldn't talk but they had these really cool pads that they'd put something on for yes or no. Or they'd blow into this apparatus thing and it would register 1 blow yes, 2 blows no. It baffles and amazes me how kids express themselves when they can't verbally.
There are no dumb questions regarding my boy. That is one of the reasons we started this blog. Yes, he can talk! We have a little valve we put over his trache to let him verbalize most easily. That's one of the big reasons you couldn't see it on Paula Zahn's show - it wasn't there. Otherwise Ben would've taken over and we'd never have discussed Ashley.
Funny thing is that anyone whose been around Big Boy watched in humor how hard Ben was working toward becoming verbal on camera. About 10 seconds after we were "out" Ben blurted out, "Hey!"
Yes, Kimmy, the boy can talk. I'm sure he's gonna blurt out the "F word" right in front of our priest one day. I'm gonna blame it on Redneck Mommy.
