I miss my Carnie-folk Friends!

Tonight I finally got around to calling bestest artist buddy Christy Buchanan. She's called a few times since my 2006 art shows were completed at the end of October. In fact she and my other bestest art show buddy, a potter named Courtney Tomchik (she dumped her website so I obviously can't make a link) called me Thanksgiving night to tell me they were dining in my honor since I couldn't afford to do the Craftsman Classic show that weekend. They were at Hooters. This was hilarious to me since they are two of the biggest-boobed women I've ever met.

I truly miss the art shows and the "carnie" life. The folks who travel on "the circuit" are some of the most wonderful and genuine people you could meet. It is such a strange and bizarre environment but so absolutely exciting! It took me 40+ years but I finally found my element!

It also has been the hardest work I've ever done in my life which includes putting up chain-link fences for my grandfather in high school. But isn't that the beauty of finding a job or career you enjoy? Maybe it's the fact that I pour all of me into each brush stroke I place on a canvas. I don't know. I just know I'm missing some really neat folks. I can't wait for Spring!

That's Christy in her standard tie-dyed outfit on the left. My booth is on the right. We were at the Atlanta Downtown Neighborhood Association's annual art festival. It sucked but we had fun.

My aunt and uncle do the circut. They are wood artisans. We normally visit their booth in Madison for Art Fair on the Square. Been there?

Not yet. I have several artist/crafters friends who head to the Midwest during the warm months.

They say it beats the heat we have here in the summers! One of these days I'll make my way up there.
